I came in hoping to work in the laboratory but didnt quite get what i wanted instead i watched a movie for 30 min and did some safety quizes and scored 95.45% on them. I got to meet some new people who work there and learned that the place is really big and there are a lot of people working there and their all scientists. From microbiologists to chemists, they do everything. I got introduced to the hectic job of recieving samples from local people. They came in with all sorts of stuff that they needed to be tested. Stuff like soil, coffee bean husk and even normal tap water form places like the yukon. All in All my work experience so far is pretty fun i get to meet some wonderful people and got to see some interesting jobs out i the world. Almost spilt some highly toxic stuff on myself today not being careful and dropping a box accidently.
Friday, May 15:
I started off the day making new potability kits for customers that send in samples of water and after that i finally got to work in the lab. I WAS A SCIENTIST FOR THE DAY :). I tested some pretty gross samples for some phosphorus concentration and found the pH of some water samples sent in from around the world. I got introduced to the organics lab upstairs where they test soil samples and find out stuff. I also tested some normal tap water for some bacteria and other micro-organisms in the microbiology lab. It was the best day i have had so far at bodycote testing lab. I met some new employees who have some tedious jobs that frustrate them but at the end they get paid well and are happy. Its a great teamworking environment here.
Wednesday, May 20:
Finally got to work in the last lab i didnt get to work in. Tested soil for its oil and acidity and stuff. But it was an overall fun day. Loose and relaxed type of day all i did was play with a DOG. YES A DOG! One of the employees at bodycote brought her small puppy to work and i got to take care of it while everyone worked >:). I took it to the back and played with it for a bit and later met some new customers as i usually do everyday. But the work part of my day was just put sodium sulphate in little pippette tips using glass wool to cover the bottom took me most of the day. During my lunchbreak we talked about maybe having a BBQ before i leave on friday if its a nice day and talked about the lottery and what we would do with it if we won. Some interesting topics and discussions.

Today i worked in the micro lab and tested the township of langleys water for traces of e-coli. Thats about it, it was a pretty easy day i finished the rest of my paperwork and got a flask signed by all the workers. It was fun and i was encouraged by everyone to pursue my dreams and stuff and we had some fun. I was introduced the boss and talked to him and learned some stuff about how he got his job and what it takes. I also watched some tv. Basically most memorable part of my experience was probably how everyone at the workplace stopped evrything and said thank you to me as a big group.
